Puerto Rico Pounding from Irene

Tuesday at Domes in between squalls from Hurricane Irene.

Tues 8pm: Back with power after 36 hrs w/o. Props to AEE. Feel bad for the 100's of thousands still out. Irene was NASTY! Full report coming up. Surf came up here this afternoon, super fun reverse swell from the SW. Domes was breaking like AMI, chest high barrels. WFL your still getting waves but you may have to wait till Saturday. Then you may just wanna drive east and take quality over quantity. You make the call but more to help manyana por la manyana... out.

Monday 9am: Not too bad. Irene has passed now and the wind has switched SW at about 25. Its 77 and real humid. We got .75 inches of rain and wind gusts near 50mph. No trees down, no damage here. Irene entered near Maunabo which is where most enter at Pt Tuna and exited near Camuy on the N coast I think. Power is out but we are running on a generator. WFL: Irene is not supposed to make it in the gulf but go up the EC. You should start seeing a N side wrap on Friday with cold front style waves out of the N in the waist high range at best c-front spots. A trough hooks up with Irene and provides WFL with an entire weekend of surf later this week. Wax em up! Forecast subject to change on track of Irene but the trough pick up is almost a lock so no gulf storm but trough action bringing surf for WFL.
Sunday 9am: Were expecting 60mph plus winds here in PR. Undoubtedly we will lose power again. Who knows for how long. Surf was waist to chest and fun last night at Luquillo la pared where we were. The way this storm is tracking no one gets good surf from it. I hate this season so far. Super stupid track line. Haiti does not need this. So it goes. Where we are in Rincon we are facing the mona passage. It could stall and just pound us for extra hours. I dont see WFL getting good surf from this either maybe a N side wrap on Thursday.
