Good waves to end 2020 and begin 2021. This is Heath getting barreled at a spot down south that I was very fond of and used to surf a lot. These photos stoked me out. Photo: venicejetty.com

1/15 Caribbean Blogger: It’s been a super rough week. My 98 yr old father in law is barely hanging on to life and we are still trying to take care of him. In between the drama and trauma of that life situation our box of boards finally arrived from Hawaii so we took off to go to SJU and have a Daddy Daughter day. To see the joy on the girls faces when they opened the box was just awesome like really so great- I’m going to have to post a video at some point. The boards are great thanks to Bat. It’s amazing that in this day and age of expensive boards made in Asia we can still get custom hand shapes. Yeah, it takes awhile but it awesome when they finally arrive. You just have to plan ahead like Season starts in September I m going to order at the end of May. That factory in Oahu is so busy it usually takes a few months to get the boards shipped. I trust Bat, he’s been making my boards since high school. I finally got him to make me a mid length, Cass got the shortboard and for Julie, Bat did a copy of a hypto crypto that planes super easy and is light and lively. So we are all stoked to get new boards. A lot of the custom board factories have worked away from airbrush towards resin tints. I always get colored boards bc I hate when they turn brown so resin tint is super colorful and artsy and looks great in the Caribbean water. Thanks Bat for the great boards!

7’0 Bat Mid Length. Should you ride a Mid? If your getting older and you don’t want to ride an LB, sure… If you don’t think you will lose that much performance, your tired of sinking way down in the water and struggling to paddle, ok… You like to surf cruisy styly, yes. Try one out and decide for yourself but I have been surfing them constantly. The only time I don’t is when the surf is really good and barreling.
