Hurricane Hermine Swell in the Caribbean

Sept2016-Surf-Expo-Promo-Announcement

Friday WFL Surf Forecast 6am:
Nothing new to report, flat spell conditions. A disturbance will slide to the south without any wave action to speak of. WFL stays in offshore flow through the period as September wants to take a break from stormy WX. Notice all the east winds lately? Why can’t the flow go SW so the EC of Florida will get offshore winds? Looks like a quick transition from el nino to la nina to me. We are seeing it in the Caribbean also. May and June were so hot with no trades and south winds or no wind. When the ATL high built back in for July the flow has been pretty strong from the east. We are having a cool September with overnight lows near 70. This leads to great WX, less humidity a delicious breeze and cooler overnight lows. In general Florida is seeing this change also. More east flow than anything. The pattern is locked in and set to continue and the only thing that can change it would be a trough or some tropical development. Looking at the models we don’t see any positive signs that could happen in the next week to 10 days. At Least it’s a little cooler out and the WX is good for fishing and other activities just not surfing. Check out Cory and the O’neill booth at Surf Expo this weekend.

Hermine Week in the Caribbean:
Good NW swell from Hermine was backed up by quality NNE from the middle ATL making for 4 days of super fun September surf in PR. Hope you can make it down this season.

Friday am POV, smaller but still fun.

Thursday am was perfect, LP swell cracking and uncrowded.

Never take the 1st cut in at Indy's at low tide. There are cuts in the reef that offer a way onto the beach from the lineup instead of paddling down to Maria's. In between the 1st cut and the 2nd there was dry reef and it shredded the nose of my beloved board, doh. The space between the 2nd cut and the 3rd is much deeper.

Surfing the north side may be tough this winter. The trades start blowing side shore really early making spots like pools and Sandy Beach bumpy. See the trades bumps behind this wave? It was only 9 in the morning. S Wall Left.
