7/20: The West Coast of Florida just finished up 6 days of ridable surf, and while the East Coast surf media continues to ignore our coast and it's market-the East Coast surfers are not! From 880 in Clearwater Beach down to Venice in Sarasota County cars with East Coast license plates were spotted at many breaks Sunday and Monday. The talent level was also raised by the presence of Atlantic surfers in the water. Call it a reverse migration, maybe all those light blue colors on the wave models but plenty of EC surfers found their way over to sample some Gulf Coast windswell. The waves were not epic; Smaller, choppier versions of an Atlantic swell but it's summer, it's Florida and unless you got a ticket to the Pacific you've got to take what you can get. Below is just a sample of some of the action that went down during this swell. The Bat crew came over from IHB including Mike Andruzko, C.T. Taylor, Mark Simon and Brian Tudor himself. We have many more photos so we will keep adding them on as time permits.
