Mid Week Malaise

Thurs 7/31: Waiting mode. WFL looks calm for the next week. EC will see an uptick in wave height starting Sunday but with onshores. By Tuesday it is really supposed to fill in w/ offshores also so keep an eye on the EC and thewavecaster.com. PR is expecting 35-40knt winds Saturday night as a tropical storm passes the NE side of the island, 3-7inches of rain(yeah right). This place does much better on long range ground swells, not ‘on top of you’ storm swells so we will have to wait and see. 93L has more convection today but I’m not getting my hopes up. Have a great day. It’s good to be alive.

DW, it is rarely worth the walk down there any more. On occasion it can be alright, and super rare days it can be good. But it isn’t and wont ever be like that again. I miss it, you all are so right about how good looking and fun the waves used to be down there.

The Jetty USED to be THE place to surf. I’m certain that the wave quality has been effected by that outer shoal … what else could it possibly be?

I think Robbed is spot on about BP jetty. The situation no doubt being aided by the bone headed dreg and fill waterfront property owner welfare program euphorically known as “beach renourishment”…what a total crock and waste of gov’t (i.e. our) dollars. Ma Nature don’t play and narrow parts of barrier island were not meant for permanent habitation, as the ol’ girl giveth and taketh away. The indigenous native americans knew and respected this…greedy good ol’ boys and clueless yankees don’t. Ok, end of rant.

I couldnt agree more DW. I thought sunset beach looked fine the way it was, they still had plenty of beach. the little cove at middle jetty was a cool feature it’s gone now and all those guys we saw fishing there are gone also.

latest from discussion dude showing good chance for WFL waves next week: .LONG TERM (SATURDAY NIGHT – WEDNESDAY)…
U/L RIDGE WILL HOLD OVER THE SOUTHERN TIER OF THE U.S. SUNDAY…BUT
WILL BEGIN TO BE SUPPRESSED SOUTH AS A ANOMALOUSLY STRONG U/L
TROUGH DIGS THROUGH THE GREAT LAKES AND TENNESSEE VALLEY ON MONDAY.
A FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL APPROACH NORTH FLORIDA MONDAY NIGHT WITH A
BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SINKING SOUTH ACROSS THE NATURE
COAST ON TUESDAY. SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL CONTINUE OVER WEST CENTRAL
AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA. LATE NIGHT SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER
THE COASTAL WATERS WILL MOVE LOCALLY ONSHORE DURING THE MORNING
HOURS…WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE INTERIOR
DURING THE AFTERNOON. REMNANT FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL STALL ACROSS
NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA WEDNESDAY AND WILL BE THE FOCUS FOR
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO RUN ABOVE
      CLIMATIC NORMALS THROUGH THE PERIOD.

Back from a sweet trip to Nicaragaua, a week of chest to slightly overhead waves with a 24/7 offshore wind thanks to lake Nicaragua. Back to stalking the tropics for some south swell

    Thanks Admin, I’ll take it.

I am super ready for some gulf waves. Gosh it would be awesome if someone could find that video of the east coast pros shredding a cleanup day in the gulf just maybe 3 years ago. Can anyone remember who made it?

I am also looking for a document. The US Army Corp of Engineers, in preparation for the upham project’s implementation of the groins, tested alternatives, and this is the document that contains the report (I think). But I am having trouble finding it: USACE 1999. Pinellas County, Florida, Beach Erosion Control Project, Design Memorandum, Long Key (Upham Beach Park) Segment, Jacksonville, Florida, USACE pub., 52

If anyone has any free time or knows where these files exist I would be truely appreciative. I am just sitting around at home looking for some good entertainment.

My kid is scoring tons of grom waves lately … we went 3 times over the weekend (so much that she experienced wax rash for the first time ever) …. I even managed a few waves on the log at high tide yesterday in SoPine …

I found some fun (enough) SUP waves tonight. Nothing great, but it felt good to slide down the line. It will be interesting to see how the swell reacts to the dredge tomorrow.

Not bad for july chop suey at my almost secret spot.

LB wave on tidal push tomorrow????

  12. DW

Yesterday evening was fun…thank God for longboards for grovel surf. There were actually some waist+ waves in IRB and the wind died down after 6pm.

I am beginning to think that there really is some kind / sort of weather control / manipulation going on. Lots of weird patterns happening. I have had a lot of fun in the past at the expense of people who believe in “Chemtrails”and the likes … but upon further research, some of these theories might be right. I have read that the “trails” are actually of a microscopic aluminum substance. It’s purpose is to deflect solar radiation away from the Earth’s surface and back into the atmosphere in an effort to reduce global warming. All this MIGHT account for these late season frontal boundaries or lack of development from tropical systems. Frankly – I never believed before, but at this point I can’t discount the possibility.

Fun little glassy LB waves this am on a Manasota beach. Ready for the EC to swell soon.

Back from the Brine….. Neptune was the ultimate pleasure provider for my 57th year on the planet, caught some mighty fine rides this early morning …. rare I type this — but I am most satisfied. Down the line… perfectly…..rights. I feel like a queen, and this time it wasn’t those frickin’ foamies ….paddle, drop, fly,

  16. RUSS-D

Now your catching on Rob ;). But seriously, I am pretty much where your at with that theory. Not sure to beleive it or not. There are definitely things that our and other Gov’t’s are doing to the atmosphere. Who knows if it works.

  17. Evy Alland

ditto Russ & Rob…..they are dinking… how much that affects weather hard to say — when you look at the big picture… like from prehistoric to now… we’re such a tiny blip on the radar screen it’s hard to know….there’s been some radical swings on the planet w/out the hand of humans….so it’s a difficult call–just got to observe and be ready to duck if something comes at ya

  18. Bucs863

Nhc says good chance it will be a TD OR Even TS later this morn, it will give the EC some solid was next week

  19. Robbed72

I don’t believe that these so called “chemtrails” are being used as a mind control effort by the US Government as some wack jobs insist … that argument has zero validity. But patents on technology such as what I described exist, and NASA has gone on record to state that it’s one of 2 methods that can be used to reduce global warming … my thoughts are that it’s currently an experiment and that ALL commercial airlines are using a fuel that creates the “chemtrail” footprint … again which is microscopic aluminum microbes that are left suspended in the air …

At Exuma Land & Sea Park in Bahamas, on a sail boat. Hope you all get some waves, but I also hope this storm doesn’t blow up too quickly. We will be riding it out on the boat….
