For Thursday May 1st 7am WFL Surf Outlook: Surf looks to be 1ft on Thursday and Friday. The gradient is backing way down and the sea state is mellowing rapidly. Big disparity between the have south swells and the have not south swells today. The best south swell spots that typically get it were good today and the rest were knee high range… I wish all of you got what a few got, chest high nugs like the one pictured above. If you did score well props’. Let us know how you did in the comments many already have. I jumped this swell last week and the cold front end fizzled. So I’m glad the south swell part delivered for those who scored… Im taking Thursday off to celebrate my family. 22 years with the same chica, my soul mate. My anniversary gift is a surf day and swell coming so I’m out. I will be back on Friday with an update… Thanks to everybody.

Jack – If you really want some close encounters with sharks, come hang around me. I’ve seen many sharks from small to large on both coasts. Had a couple times when they have hit me chasing bait under my board & other times when they buzzed me very aggressively. All of my close encounters have been with sharks under 6′. I’ve seen & caught many while fishing or spear fishing but it’s never fun when you’re in the water while they are being aggressive. On the other hand, it’s awesome to experience them when they are calm & relaxed.

lounging around, sipping coffee, slowly making my way out to the beach this morning. Hoping it improves as the day goes on. Front is a little late passing through, from what was forecasted. Maybe this will translate into left overs tomorrow?? I hope so 🙂 even if it is just a SUP wave would be nice.

I’m doing the same thing Russ … not in a rush to get out today … inside buoy just hit 6.5 feet out of the west at like 6 seconds. I’m thinking the noon (ish) session will be best … but I’m going to get on the road in the next half hour. Gonna head south to a protected spot … I’m not expecting much …

decided to RUN this morning rather then go for waves–a good decision, winds were at 15 and there were occasional stronger gusts – bit too windy slop chop -> what I call Flea-in-the-Sea conditions for me…. saving the mojo for tomorrow morning…. My sweet Sandbar is presently being stampeded by Touristas…. it’s really time for them all to go home – I’ve been nice, patient, polite, courteous…. now I want my space back

Back on LAND…. wooHOOO – wonderfull KAMAAINA morning on the Sandbar at my MOST FAVORITE BEACH BREAK ON THE PLANET. Local surfers out – families, old seadogs, young bucks sharing the love, peace and bliss of small but sweet waves on our Siesta Key.
and I….scored probably the best ride in my life…. graduating from Queen of the Foamies to, well, something a bit less kooky……
Micah were your ears ringing???? met another Aurasurf follower — and We both sang your Praises and expressed our Gratitude for the most special place we have here !!!

bells contest is so sick, that first turn by seabass was sick, it’s all sick!!!

  8. Jeff King

Saturday evenening was really fun at SK! Bells contest has been epic to watch! Cant wait for more

I enjoy aurasurf’s commentary on the weather. You do a better job than some of the forecasters on TV.

  10. Evy Alland

Agreed Hammy!! always appreciate the explanations for our weather patterns…. I will always remember when Micah called out Hurricane Charlie’s pattern perfectly…..in the years following Aurasurf, one of the best benefits is the opportunity to learn why we are getting the waves and learning about weather..without getting stuck in a classroom.

what a frustrating heat fro Ke11y. He had, what could have been, the winning wave and got stuck mid turn on the flat section. KS will always be one of all time favorite surfers, and I really hope he is not past his prime and can pull of another title before calling it quits. One of the greatest competitors to ever ride a board. And JJF is going to be a multiple World Champ in the near future for sure.

I took off work this past Tuesday and it was super fun in Satellite Bch. Don’t know about any surf on the EC worth a trip across the state now, the models indicate it is real small until next Thursday and a totally flat gulf. Time for serious fishing over here. Tight lines to all anglers!

Thanks for the most lovely post this morning…. to see Wife & your GIRLS !!!! My Heart SWELLED w/ Love…..Surfmom here has watched these mergirls grow up (via your log & pics), and I think, along w/ my first edition classic black Aurasurf shirt, a set of these wine glass charms would be mighty fine.
and Micah — should your NativeSonFeet return to the Gulf…. I KNOW Lady Gulf of Mexico & Kind Neptune will be so stoked– there will be the best WAVES ever !!

5th picture down … man … that wave looks to be so damn fun. I’d be all about staying right in the bowl section and driving that left. Love fun zone like that!

  16. Bfisch

Fun little ground swell & lots of tasty fish being caught this evening at the beach. Love that low tide & crystal clear water…

  17. Kyle

Thank you Micah! Just got back from PR and it could not have been a better trip. Micah guided us in on where to stay, surf and snapped some great photos. We caught a really good waves. Thanks again.

Good times Kyle thanks, I ended up surfing indy for 4 hours on Monday, super fun and a couple little tubes

  18. Bfisch

It was only knee high, but glassy and perfect form for the groms & big boards. Water was crystal clear and fish were biting. Fresh fish dinner, straight from the sea to the grill…

  19. Kyle

Nice! Domes was really fun too. Peaky chest to shoulder high, really glassy, a frames. Good fast lefts and long rights. I will be back!

Taking the grom today in srq

  20. jack

…because it is shin high at BEST here in Boca. I know this place doesn’t catch much south swell, but there’s usually something in the water here when it’s ride-able elsewhere. Wondering if I missed anything good after reading admin’s chest high remark. 🙂

  21. RUSS-D

caught some super fun SUP waves in Pinellas this afternoon. CAught a few that I wish I had the floaty fish for, but over all I think a SUP or a bigger Log was the call for where I surfed.

  22. gtstommy

Jelly! Had nothing but shore pound here, they were trying to stand up, but to no avail. Good on all y’all that caught something!

  23. Bfisch

Glassy waist to chest and super consistent. Surf was up from dawn to dusk. Can’t ask for better conditions from the gulf. So much fun!
