Isaias Wave WX Forecast Blog

Couple gems out there. Friday in Bradenton. Photo: M Weaver.

WFL Hurricane Isaias Wave WX Outlook below:
For Sunday last day- Looking small and forecast onshore winds on Sunday but it may be glassy if the wind dies, at least for a bit. A front comes thru on Monday, no waves but cooler WX!! Can’t wait!! I got some super fun surf at Twin Piers in Bradenton Friday and Saturday. The wind was an issue but occ really fun waves. The drops on the rights were steep and a rush then a quick turn. I started on a 6’8 then switched to a shortboard. The 6’8 worked so good but my son in law started surfing it so I struggled a bit more on the shortboard but I got a couple good ones. I got to treat my son in law to the real GC surf experience. So cool and so good to reconnect with so many old friends!! Thanks WFL!!

Isaias blowing up Thursday am.

My son in law Trent with the 6’8 going to surf the GC for the first time.

I’m not going on social media until after I surf… Dude this storm is really cool man. It’s just like blowing up and coming right at us. I mean it’s a great scenario. The storm is bigger and closer now and stronger so prepare for sideshore winds and we may need protection. Very good chance there could be a wave Friday at dawn small clean swell also. I hope to see you guys out there. Let’s surf!

Breeze TPA to SJO review.

Breeze Tampa to San Jose Costa Rica Review: Hey guys, I told you guys I would give you a report on the Breeze flight from San Jose to Tampa. This is what I know about it: It is only flying a couple days a week, check your schedule. The prices seem pretty good… (Down in Puerto Rico we have Copa and Copa‘s like a Panama based airline that’s been flying all over Latin America for cheap and they definitely go to Miami maybe Fort Lauderdale so you can always check those guys too maybe Orlando) Anyways Breeze is def a budget airline. I mean they didn’t even give you coffee/water or nothing. They do not take surfboards! That’s kind of a dealbreaker because so many guys from Florida wanna bring their boards. When I was in Costa Rica there was not that many options for board rentals. There’s a guy ‘Carton’ in Jaco and I didn’t like their boards. The rails seem really stupid, no offense. But I ended up renting a board- a Slater sci-fi from Jay at ‘Sababa surf Lesson‘s’ in the middle of Jaco and the board worked really good. It looked like poop, but it worked really good! But not many options- a beat up …lost, a beat up Firewire mid, they look like half dead. Maybe in Playa Hermosa you can find something better but I mean that’s kind of a dealbreaker if Breeze is not gonna take surfboards. The flight was awesome, so smooth, great plane, no problems but that’s the deal. Nice to have a direct flight from Tampa, but with caveat… All right guys, there it is. I hope you can make it down to Puerto Rico this winter. Going to Costa Rica makes me appreciate Puerto Rico. The water in PR is so pretty. The waves are great, tons of spots, you can spread out, friendly vibes. Easy board Rentals… I got a ton of known boards, Firewires, and stuff like that and the apartment too so hit me up. I’ll be there all season and we got other properties too.

i went to the conveyor belt spot (in these conditions, tight pocket) and had a few multi turn waves, steep drops, head dips, closeout mini barrels and single maneuever wonky thigh waist occ chest wedges late pm w a huge outgoing tide. lot of current was hoping it would ease some. the angle may improve a bit more for there otherwise its spot check time…nice to consistently surf again. ive had like 6 sessions in the past week and a half, one being in the atlantic. cheers…

Today was the first time I got out to surf in about 1½years. I got out to Sunset at about 9:30 a.m., and it was waist-high, clean, and fun. Unfortunately, I got a hamstring cramp and tore a muscle. I guess that’s what happens when you are out of surfing shape. I still got in an hour and a half of fun waves with an empty line-up, and I know I can still actually catch and surf waves, LOL.

it was lowkey dreamy 1-3 ft semi glassy wedges n wally lines for a minute at the aforementioned spot after the rain passed and wind died / shifted around mid-late pm…been a good run…

    unpopular topic incoming:

so what will happen to a certain county park(s) when the increasingly confident, yet glaringly ignorant masses vote yes to get a certain something reduced-only for them to be billed additionally to make up for the shortfall…govt employee here…worked at state, county and city level…luckily i work in utilities
and our funding can’t be touched.

glimpses of venice jetty’s post-storm dilemma ahead…i sure hope not…but the name of the game
in florida is, “no foresight, no long-term planning, only short financial gain for a select few.”
