1pm and the wind is chilling…
Friday 7am WFL Outside buoy is 10ft and the inside buoy is 6-7ft at 8seconds WNW. But the wind…. Up to 30 in CLW but forecast by both models to drop towards lunchtime. It’s blowing due N but forecast to clock NNE… Should be some fun surf later today. Let us know how you did!!

Thursday 3/20 WFL 6am and it’s super calm/flat but waves are on the way… GM guys this front looks really good, hitting the gulf with a good push. There should be a wave late today before dark and tomorrow looks like a full on surf day with chest high waves and N winds getting lighter and maybe swinging NNE so definitely plan to surf tomorrow, then 1ft on Saturday. Let me know how you did!!

Tomorrow is forecast 4@7-8 seconds tomorrow with the wind finally offshore. So try and surf Tuesday also. Waist high and glassy at best spots down south tomorrow am.

Psyching for football season!

Before 1976 we were Dolphins fans.

Football take- this is me in 78′ with the Bucco Bruce shirt
I was raised in a football Family. We played a lot of football. As kids, my brother played on the Seminole Warhawks as a wide receiver in 1986. I went out for JV, but I took up surfing and skateboarding and dropped football as far as extracurricular sports in high school. When I was a little tiny grom in the picture above we were huge Miami Dolphin fans, Bob Greise, Don Shula, and my older brother is wearing a Larry Czanka jersey next to me in the photo. So in 1976 When the bucs were initiated, we were huge fans from the beginning- except Jonny Carson kept making fun of us, and we could not win a single game for almost 2 years. I can remember the bucs getting Doug Williams, drafting him, and he was like our savior. It was huge. When he broke his jaw that was huge, so we had to wait till the next year. Sure enough we were very close to the Super Bowl in 1979. I silently secretly endured all the late 80s early, 90s 2-14 seasons. How bad they were, my friends making fun of me. People wearing paper bags over their heads at the Old Sombrero. They were the most losingest franchise in sports history of any sport. Those creamsicle uniforms were a symbol of losing. So in 1997 they got the new uniforms. Glazer took over and they had some really good drafts. Picking up Alstott, Warrick Dunn. Warren Sapp, Derek Brooks, John Lynch added some pieces with Keyshawn and Brad Johnson and we did a massive pig roast at a buddies house in Saint Petersburg and celebrated our first Super Bowl win in early 2003. There was really good surf that winter also. Then came a lot more suffering after that and when I moved to Puerto Rico, thiis was pretty much before social media and crack streams and I couldnt keep up with any of my sports teams. So for 10 years, I was pretty much not a football fan, except for the Super Bowl which people here do celebrate the Super Bowl. Also, they don’t know what football is, but they will have a party for the Super Bowl. When I heard Tom Brady was coming back well I had to start following them again. In 2020 it was much easier with more websites, crackstreams, and finally a service that I have now that allows me to see all of the games which is pretty cool. I’m excited because I think we have a really good team. We have character guys, good guys. How can you not root for the underdog? I expect them to be better this year than they were last, but I’m super superstitious and paranoid. I don’t like to post pictures on game day. I don’t like to talk about it too much. Because when they lose, it’s my fault and I go into a depression. That being said if they lose today it’s not my fault, and it’s not the end of the world either. They’ll pull it together, especially when they get some of these guys back. They’re gonna be dominant towards the end of the season. If they stay healthy, that’s what matters.
Waves were really fun this morning. Very suprised. waist to rib and super clean just rifling south swell with no wind
How is the water quality?
Cleaned up nice in the last week.
Clearer and no smell in TI.
i took off yesterday because it looked surprisingly in-line variables wise and it was. thigh to stomach w/ freak shoulder sets. consistent and glassy with some punch on the good ones. managed a couple multi turn waves and some other long rides. water had a slight poo poo smell and red tide tinge at times w/ some minor irritation locally but that should get flushed out after this secondary front…hopefully…
Fun waves in Sarasota County this am. Solid chest high sets thumping the new sandbars and the shoal lighting up too for the LBs. Semi clean with the North wind but the water was semi dirty, red tide-ish but not coughing or eyes burning.
thanks for the reports guys more waves today!
Surfed a few hours yesterday morning while the wind was offshore. Short board able and very fun. Not too many people either since access is limited! Caught some great ones! Went out this morning and did 8 drifts and again, some fun ones to be had! Sometimes you just gotta get out there and try!
i paddled out at dp on sand key (not the park, im not walkin that far in this cold) . there were waves from all directions with a mostly west wnw tilt. it struggled a little in the wind and after a big low tide/fading groundswell. a few solid chest plus pitchers w workable lines and walls. neck got stiff after a while and i threw in the towel.
el niño esque front…one last hurrah…cant wait till the park opens it wuda been macking there for a minute…cheerz…
I couldn’t get out in the morning but I checked Minnesota and the pier and both looked like they were still getting solid thigh to waist high waves even at 1:00 p.m. the wind was kind of sideshore but ultimately it looked pretty manageable and fun.
Fun waves yesterday, some solid waist+ sets and the NW windswell. Med-Heavy Red Tide chased me out of the water in Sarasota???????? my eyes…..my eyes!!!!
sekret spot reopens dec 21. hallelujah!
that’s today!! send pics info@aurasurf.com
i was too sick to go sadly^ . fortunately i was well enough to pit stop at fernandina yesterday morning en route to xmas digs. scored some noreaster waves for an hour and change. first time there, its nice and more sheltered than the poles…
know where to go when and you may find what you like…wedgy waist to head high peaks barreling w some side offshore for a bit…had my basic 3/2 w gloves and boots it wasnt too bad…
on that note, i refuse to buy expensive wetsuits now that i primarily surf the gulf and cfl…tho i kinda wanna treat myself to a bare bones 4/3 (never had one) for the biting wind and colder water days/when i come back up north…waves all week…merry christmas
Anyone know if Sand Key park is open yet? Probably worth a look tomorrow morning if forecast stays this way.
i heard it was… HD said so a week or so ago…
Yes, SKP is open, maybe see you there this morning.
was a blast at dp^ 32 deg wind chill tho. water temp made it tolerable. nice to be back at the cold wave pool. long clean lines –waist to shoulder range on the big ones and some a frames. a lot of mixed up swell still hangin on.

buoy is close to 4ft NW this am…
winds dead and ssw swell is there. tide bottomed out coming in. go now for clean knee waist swell lines or wait for chest high crossed-up-bending-windslop?…i think i know which…
it was fun both mornings last weekend ^. clean and workable lines, knee to stomach, nice shape. waters getting alot colder…should warm up a degree or two over the weekend at least…
Wish you well brother!
