Come On Irene

Sunday am and still going in WFL.

Sunday 9am 8/28
: Lots of great reports coming in the comments. Both coasts had fun surf yesterday. Knee to thigh in St Pete this am, bigger at the best c-front spots probably waist high. It will fade later today all though the tide switch could help. 1ft from the west on Monday so try and find some waves today. Tuesday and Wednesday could see a 1ft South swell as a tropical waves passes to the south but it does not look ridable, good skim. Have a great week.

Good ole Allstate is offering unlimited overtime due to the hurricane damage claims i will be receiving. The $$ is keeping me on this coast. I figured work a fast 10 hours friday saturday and sunday on top of my 45 hour work week then head to Trusty N county and score for a bit. I would make it over but im trying to keep the priorities in line… I dont knwo how much more abuse the bat you sold me can handle.. I hope you score !

I understand Jeff. Sometimes you have to sacrifice surf for the bigger picture. If you need a new custom bat let me know I can hook you up.

wow glad you made it through ok and thanks for the ec forecast i am really pumped, brings back memories of hurricane bill when there were 8-10′ sets coming through but this time maybe there will be stiffer offshores

How big is it in those Domes pictures Micah …??

I am still debating heading East on Saturday or staying here … I have the weekend off …

maybe waist high Rob, it grew in size in the afternoon, got biggest before dark. A couple bombs like shoulder high, full on tubes like the pic. The rights would bowl and pitch.

Really enjoyed the pics and write-up on Hurricane Irene this morning. I’m tied to the porch so it’s waves on the Gulf side for me whatever they may be

  7. Rob

Really Bro? By the looks of the pics, it’s hard to tell how far out it was breaking. I was thinking it might be MUCH larger then that.

Walton Rocks near PT ST Lucie will be holding . if not Jetty Park on SAT hope you budgeted gas in to your budget. RC’s will be all time on SUNDAY at some point.

the wind just kicked in here in tampa – you can feel the energy from this thing all the way here. Feel bad for the folks north on the east coast – first an earthquake now this.

does playalinda work on a setup like this?

I can’t make the Friday size, but will be East for the clean Sat ground swell. Truck is already packed, with out the fish so I can get a little warm up here after work(hopefully) tomorrow.

What’s the chances of anything decent left EC for sunday? So many times after big swell even what would be decent doesn’t work after all the sand has shifted. On duty watching the boy tomorrow while the wife goes to training.

  14. Rob

No bump quite yet. Wind picked up within the last hour though … 15 mph and gusty out of the NNW fyi

  15. Rob

    Yeah … Maaaaaaybe …. kinda sorta … jusssst under knee high … I wouldn’t say it’s rideable.

    SOPINE report

@ cw…Some reports out there say there will be something left for Sunday on the EC.
    Saturday for me.

      buena idea

it is still flat here in PR. we are waiting till tomorrow night and Monday for the kickback. seeing the ec going off is amazing!

6-10 w/ offshores all day yesterday @ Whitey’s! Thick lips, hollow take offs and low crowds. Epic!

was browsing the reports since I’m stuck in the house till 11, what’s up with surfline reports on the east coast – they are calling for 1 – 2 ft surf at a bunch of spots… someone must be on vacation or out surfing.

Lunar activity is expected to play a large role in influencing the storm’s impact on the coast. Irene will arrive at both perigee, when the Moon’s elliptical orbit brings it closest to the Earth, and the new moon, when the Moon and sun are aligned on the same side of our planet. Both the Moon’s position and phase will intensify gravitational effects on the tides, causing greater tidal ranges.

Got my rides!!!! felt like a flea in the sea – INTENSE RIP CURRENTS – but I managed to get what I went out for and I am smiling very contently at the moment….. I want more

  21. Rob

Well, I know that all eyes are on the EC today, but here at home – for those of us who stayed – we managed to nab some pretty fun nugs. Not going to lie … it was fun!

  22. RUSS-D

surfed South of Melbourne today and it was firing, especialy in the early morning. Long lefts, and barreling rights. I am officialy WHOOPED and going to sleep for the next 36 hours LOL. But in reality i have stuff to do around the house, and if the waves are going to be doing something over here I might have to go out.

  23. Rob

^^^ Yep … we have knee to possibly waist high waves in south Pinellas from the looks of it on the cams.

  24. Heath

Surfed north of the cape yesterday and it was incredible. Easily top 5 all time. It was hard to leave….

  25. Ty

casa de espanol was soo good yesterday! A little overhead and top to bottom super thick tubes… Some of the sickest barrels of my life, but tough to make! Its been awhile since I’d seen surf that good in florida

  26. Heath

Sooooooo shacked!!! Still can’t get the grin or the pictures out of my head. I think there where more west coast crew then east which made for a better session…

  27. fbc

melbourne area just went off yesterday and after 11 am it just got ridiculous as the tide was slowly going out – long, steep walls and makeable barrels one after another… so tired on the drive home

e.alland- Are you talking about searching for leftovers east-side or on this side?

I know that there was a little bump coming in on both coasts Monday and was just wondering which coast you were referring to.

LOL… I just realized that what I am asking only happens once every few years if we are lucky how it turned out last weekend. Great surf on the EC and a rideable wave gulf-side for a few days from the same system which stayed in the Atlantic. Just can’t beat that!
