WFL Secret Spots Revealed. Happy Hurricane Season!

Just in time to help you score amazing barrels this summer.

Thursday 6/2 UPDATER:
Maybe a trough next week to switch the winds SW. Low probs right now we see anything coming out of the Yucatan. The Caribbean low sure is keeping it rainy and cloudy in the islands. It has been cool and mostly in the 70’s here and it rained like 5 times yesterday. In Central America large swells are being groomed by offshore winds so Nica or CR is looking like an awesome call if you could go along with Mexico. So Pac continues to go off. Lots of fishing for Florida and some fun waves at the inlets on the EC.
Monday 7am: Lots of easterly flow this week will keep WFL flat. East Coast will have chest high choppy conditions. Should be some fun shorepound at the usual spots over there. Back on the GC, beach fishing should be going off with the easterly flow. Pompano, snook, whiting…. have a great week. No surf in the long range until we see a pattern change and this pattern seems locked in for now, there may be a wave in the Caribe to watch as it heads toward the Yucatan later in the week but the chances are the blocking high will keep it down.

Summer heat and flatness are upon us for sure. I am most likely heading East this weekend to get what ever is there. Slop chop is bettert than lake flat LOL.

Please post the map of all of the surf spots at Ft Desoto for the traveling surfer for the tropical storm swells

We made one a while back … maybe Micah still has it … if not, I’ll re-send it to him 🙂

I remember that map – was that that for real? Never imagined Ft as a spot – must take some decent swell to get going.

Just sharing the Gulf Coast love … one tribe, one fam … one big azz stretch of beach that lights up with hurricane swell June – November … RIP Bernie …

Snackbars gets good @ North Beach it is located just south of A-BOMBS. park at shelter #5

The annual paddle out for Bernie is coming up … adds validity to efforts of making the Gulf a legitimate wave filled culture. Oh … and make sure that you park in Tony Coleman’s parking spot if you surf Snack Bars … he loves it when people do that.

Latest from PR: flood advisories are up. No sun today, just tons of rain and more on the way. Low 70s all day, crazy WX. Have not chkd the waves . N coast is waist high I think…

I surfed PEPSI cups @ the FT. after Gilbert passed thru the Yucatan it was EPIC , but seriously I have never seen the gulf light up like the Saturday @ UPHAM after Gilbert with the lowest pressure ever in 1988.

Mike – I was there that same day … just imagine … if Upham was that good, what did it look like elsewhere? And Upham was Epic … that – incidentally is what pisses me off about magazine articles: the writers don’t know what they are talking about … Gilbert was (at one time) a super nasty CAT 5 Supercane … lowest BMP ever recorded for a cane … and that article made no mention??

surfd Gilbert at the opening of Johns Pass. it was very, very good. holy cow that was 22 yrs ago?
NVJ was epic, had a shot in one of the mags. it was such a clean long period g swell. showed up a full 36hrs after landfall outta nowhere.

my personal favorite was rita, every single wave was a makeabe tube just perfect slabs

  12. Rob

That NVJ shot was from East Coast Surfer, the old inset that used to be in the “regular” Surfer magazine … which is kinda funny in itself, because that just goes to show you the “props” the EC got back then. Incidentally, regarding that particular shot, in the same sentence in the words under the photo it mentioned Upham – saying something like … “even the normal mush pit, Upham Beach in St. Pete was going off with solid surf” …

OK guys, take the spots down. How long do we have to keep it up? Every east coaster will be there when the 1st hurricane swell hits. I’m all for stoke, but there will be crowds. watch.

At least you didnt tell everyone about the easy paddle over to egmont for perfect empty conditions.just jump off the pier and your practically there.

Remember that one time, when we got caught in a gnarly squall line? When 4-6′ ENE swell was running through the channel?
