Thanks

Classic Gulf Coast, 2003.

Almost out of here… Crazy, hope this all works out. All these sketchy thoughts go thru my mind but mostly excitement. I just want to say a sincere thank you to everyone on the WFL gulf coast who has been there for me over the years. We might not have the best waves in the world but the surf community here is world class and everyone has always been so cool to me. Thank you. I will continue to keep an eye on the weather in Florida from the Caribbean and continue to try and help you score waves on the gulf so don’t go anywhere… it’s about to get good. I feel like I’m dead weight here anyways. As soon as I’m gone ground swells will start rolling in again like the old days… like the pic above. Hang in there GC. Keep surfing and thanks a ton for everything. No matter where I go I will represent. I will always be gulf coast.

WFL SURF FORECAST:
Next chance for waves looks to be Wednesday. 2ft cold front surf can be expected with gusty NNW winds. Probably best in the afternoon. Nice to get a steady diet of waves. Knee to waist high range at best c-front spots.

I think this song came out in 1991 or something.
When I first heard it, I thought if I ever got out of here this is the song I would play driving across the Howard Franklin for the last time… Love this band, have been following them since the mid-80’s… not as good as the studio quality but great song that I can really relate to. Next post will be from the isla, si Dios quiere, and I will probably be listening to salsa or raggaeton:)

Man Cole you are horny for surf. Good on ya, looked knee maybe thigh windswell at best S facer.

Rob got me a going away present. A book by Steve Hawk called “waves” signed by my surf crew. Too cool. Thanks Rob!

  2. Rob

Cole … you may be getting some waves today with me (I am off today and tomorrow) .. that wind is beginning to crank out of the south. Gym first for me!!

MW – you are welcome! We will all miss you, but go get PR locked in and at least you can expect some company in the near future.

  3. fbc

there is just a 1/2 foot wind ripple down here right now… supposed to be waist by high tide but the wind sure needs to crank to make it happen!

For all the years of gulf coast surfing, forecasting, and the dissapointment of the aforementioned….you’re finaly gonna be living the dream. The home sickness for the gulf’ll disapear after a few early morn sessions alone at domes. Have fun and thanx from the Brothers down south

I’ve read your reports for a long time…when surfinfo was popular and when you posted GC reports for sixfootglass. Thank you for being such an important part of my GC experience. I’ll continue to look forward to your forecasts but will understand if they become sparse. There will be a lot more to track on the shores of PR. Best of Luck!

Best of luck M-Dub… keep yo’ butt in the Caribe so we can finally get some good waves! So is Aura gonna die or is someone else taking over the site with updates and jack like that? Would be cool to see Rob or TDawg keep it flowing with Aura GC love and of course you dropping in when you can.

Best of luck to you and your family down in La Isla Del Encanto. Maybe I’ll see you out in the lineup on my next trip to P.R.

Thanks for all the great reports……
Nothing better than moving to a locale with better waves as I have moved from the Gulf to EC to So Cal and back to Gulf again. Enjoy!

Have fun in PR MW. I know you will, you have always had a huge passion for that island. Now it is going to be your home. You and your site have taught me a lot about Gulf surf forecasting. Thanks for all the Years of info and reports.

so whatever happened to global warming – sheesh! we still live in florida, right? i am starting to get acclimated to cold again and my yard looks like i live in atlanta or something. as i was getting an ice cream headache yesterday morning in the water i was hoping that we will be rewarded w/ tropical swells this summer/fall

  15. Bud Green

Don’t buy into that global warming crap, it’s a movement led by progressives like Al Gore and self-proclaimed communist Van Jones.Whether the earth is warming or cooling does not matter to them, the whole effort is a scare tactic to get people so worried that they are willing to accept something that they were not willing to before. If they get the public to accept their claims, then it is easier for them to change the rules or ‘progress’ but to progress means more regulation, regulation over people and regulation over companies, which for them, is one step closer to nationalization.More regulation means less freedoms, and isn’t freedom what this country is founded on?That is their agenda, they don’t believe that we are smart enough to take care of ourselves, they think it is the job of the federal goverment to control most aspects of our lives. They think it is the job of the federal goverment to control and regulate companies instead of letting the free market system work things out.Big Goverment, that’s what they want. They have nothing but time on their hands, because they figured out that it can’t happen quickly, add social security here, add some welfare there, a little medicaid here, some medicare there and top it off with a forced healthcare law and we are now well on our way to becoming a Socialist country. That’s what they do, piece by piece, just a little at a time, and before we know it they are watching us with cameras everywhere, taxing the hell out of us, forcing us to support others and trying to take away the only means we have of defending ourselves and our families, our right to bear arms.Any of this sound familiar?

  16. ogar

socialism doesnt sound so bad look at sweden hahaha j.k fuck politics anybody got a visi? im jonesin fuck the cold

  17. Brad

Bud, I don’t mean to be rude, but you started your argument saying that all the scientific research showing proof of climate change is really just a “scare tactic”, then you proceeded to spend a couple hundred words scaring everyone. Do you see the irony in your tactics?

Anyway, the more pressing issue, anybody see any waves yet?

  18. Brandoburger

Didn’t realize that you were moving. Maybe I should read sometime and stop worrying so much about the surf. Yeah right haha. Well I’m gonna miss all of your reports and help/info on what’s going on, I’ve been visiting this website almost every day for the past 5 or so years. Have fun @ your new home. Thanks for everything!

Cats away… no f bombs! And preferably no politics. As soon as I can access the net that post will be deleted

Today was my first surf, paddled out at marias but drifted/paddled to doggies and got perfect chest high walls with a bit of a bowl at the end. Water was 79 air 80. Beautiful reef, there ended up staring at it instead of doing turns. I did get one small barell.mission accomplished. Lots of people in town, marias was crowded. Good thing the swell was NW. Doggies loves that. Good first day fo sure.

  21. Jeff king

SK was chest high on the sets between 4 and 5 yesterday.. only 10-15 people out… ended up way more fun then I expected.. that 2.1 high at 4:50 did the trick

  22. Jeff king

from 3:30 when i got there it was thigh high short lines.. then around 4:30 it stacked up nice. backed down fast after 5

  23. ogar

my bad about the f bomb earlier haha whats it lookin like today? i heard down south should be gettin good on the high tide

  24. fbc

yeah it was a little weak but still glassy and decent (knee to thigh lines), next time you are out surfing watch out for planes dropping from the sky!

Thanks for the posts and reports while I have been incomunicado. Its Saturday am here. We are staying at the condo, Brisas del Mar. Very comfortable. It rained and this am it is 70 out. By far the coolest I have ever felt in PR. The surf has been small the last 2 days and the moving co arrived with our stuff so I have been putting beds together and getting the new house ready. JG and Meryl have been SO helpful. The internet is supposed to get hooked up today so I hope to update the site with a new forecast. Thanks for your patience. I have not seen a WX map in a week.
