Friday 8/30/24 7am WFL Report: Good morning! West Florida keeps offshore flow with rain in the afternoons thru this weekend, SSE and SE flow stating Monday, maybe a 1ft southy… No significant wave events but 50% out in the central Atlantic is shown next to the Yucatán peninsula a week from tomorrow. 8 to 9 days where it develops. So we’re switching over to the La Niña pattern but the door is not completely closed on the Gulf of Mexico. High-pressure is way out towards Europe so it leaves a space for development in the northwest Caribbean so will be watching that area that could be the next chance for surf for West Florida, coming sometime second week in September. Even just a small swell from the channel, you know 1 foot at 10 seconds. We will take it. So in conclusion nothing for sure but watching the second week in September for a possible small South swell at some point. You guys have a great weekend and I’ll be back on Monday with another look, thanks for checking in! Details by Diaco updated for September below…

IMO best GC surf photo ever. photo Mo Lelii.

Mo is awesome!! Thanks for always getting the best shots bro!

Wednesday 8am WFL Report: August 2024 will go out quiet… I will remember the one August event, Debbie for everyone dancing with the models and their daily whims to go left or right and me calling it all along it would go offshore WFL. So that Sunday morning of swell and then onshore waves for a few days was the August event. La Ninya is kicking in now and that’s not good news for WFL at all. It usually means strong high pressure in the ATL making east flow going NE flow. La Ninya for WFL usually means long flat spells for WFL punctuated by sometimes good swell events from the tropics or cold fronts. So that’s what’s ahead: In the short term calm conditions and offshore flow followed by NE winds next week and more calm conditions. Eventually low pressure will find it’s way to the GOMEX but nothing showing up yet. Lots of onshore surf for the EC… Good time to plan your next surf trip… I do guide services for Puerto Rico to help you find the best surf. The Tampa to Aguadilla flights are long gone so now it’s MCO or SJU, you have to drive here or there. The Caribbean WX forecast has been very rainy(over 10″ for August) and looks like a slow start to surf season with trade swell and eventually NNE waves later into September. At least were not getting blasted by a hurricane. I have not been surfing but I may go up North this weekend, report coming Saturday…
The Inertia talks to Mo Lelii. Check it out!
